Director Seenu Ramasamy has presented a simple story with interesting twists through his latest Tamil offering Thenmerku Paruvakatru. The film tells the story of a widowed woman Veerayi (Saranya), who has brought up her son Murugan (Vijay Sethupathy), a goat herd, alone. The film has a rural background but it is not a typical village story with some ‘lungi’ clad man romancing leading ladies.
Story:
Murugan loves to hang around with his gang of friends and spends time playing pranks. His mother Veerayi wants to get him married with his cousin. He bows down to her mother's wish unwillingly by agreeing to marry her. Meanwhile, goats in the village starts getting vanished through a group of masked thieves. When the thieves try to steal Murugan’s goats, he fights with them along with his friends. But, they fail to stop them. However, Murugan discovers a young girl's face from their group.
A curious Murugan searches for the young lady in the neighbouring villages and finds a girl named Pechi (Vasundhra). He also finds that she cooks midday meals at a village school and during night, she joins them. He also came to know that she does all these thefts to support her family.
she does all these to support her family, she cooks midday meal at a village school and during night, she joins tem. They sell meat of the goat and earn money from it.
Later, Murugan falls in love with her but her family is worried about their security so they try to kill him. During one attempt, he survives and they are arrested by the police. Pechi’s family is now deadly against him, while she starts feeling for him. On the other hand, Murugan’s mother is very angry with him for breaking his promise and trying to marry a girl, who is a thief. What happens next should be seen on-screen.
The director has relied on some fresh faces for the lead roles.Vijay Sethupathy and Vasundhra have done justice to their roles. But Saranya steals the show by her extraordinary performance. Theepetti Ganeshan's comedy is good and other characters are okay.
Verdict: Don’t miss this wonderful film.
